From Insight to Action: Using Tarot as a Life Coaching Tool

tarot cards : From Insight to action: using tarot as a life coaching tool

Tarot has long been associated with prediction and divination, but in recent years, its use as a tool for self-reflection and personal growth has gained momentum.

By combining tarot with life coaching techniques, you can create transformative experiences that guide you and your clients toward clarity and action. As someone with extensive experience in both coaching and tarot, I’ve discovered that these two disciplines complement each other perfectly, as they offer a powerful way to support personal and spiritual development.

Reframing Tarot Beyond Prediction

While tarot readings are often sought for their predictive nature, the cards hold immense value as a tool for self-awareness and reflection. Coaching takes this one step further by transforming a reading into a dynamic conversation that uncovers possibilities and potential solutions.

For instance, rather than seeing the Tower card as a prediction of upheaval, it can be reframed as an opportunity to ask,

What in your life needs to fall away so you can rebuild something stronger?

This shift moves the focus from passive prediction to active engagement with life’s challenges and opportunities.

In my work as a master-level certified health and life coach, I’ve guided individuals through a variety of life transitions, including fertility journeys, miscarriage support, and spiritual growth. Since integrating tarot into my practice, I’ve witnessed how pairing intuitive insights with coaching principles empowers clients to take meaningful action.

By viewing tarot as a tool for personal growth, you can help clients not just see what might happen but understand how to navigate their circumstances with confidence and intention.

Coaching Questions Inspired by the Cards

Every tarot card carries layers of meaning, making it a rich source of inspiration for coaching questions. The Hermit, for example, invites introspection and self-discovery. A coaching question inspired by this card might be,

Are you feeling called to spend more time alone, if so what would you like to discover in that solitude?

Similarly, the Six of Wands, a card of victory and recognition, could lead to a question like, How can you celebrate your recent achievements more fully?

As the founder of the High Priestess Tarot School, I’ve taught thousands of students how to explore these deeper layers of the cards. By encouraging clients to engage with coaching questions, we create space for reflection and action. Each card becomes a mirror, reflecting back the client’s inner wisdom and inspiring them to think critically about their goals, challenges, and next steps.

This approach not only deepens the reading but also equips clients with tools to continue their personal growth long after the session ends.

Creating an Interactive Experience

One of the most rewarding aspects of blending coaching with tarot is the shift from passive readings to collaborative experiences. When coaching techniques are integrated into tarot readings, clients become active participants rather than passive recipients. Instead of simply being told what the cards mean, clients are invited to share their thoughts, feelings, and interpretations, fostering a sense of ownership over their insights.

For example, when a client draws the Two of Swords, rather than simply explaining the card’s themes of indecision and balance, I might ask,

What decision are you struggling with right now, and what might help you find clarity?

This opens the door for the client to reflect on their situation and work toward actionable solutions.

I’ve used this approach to empower people through my tarot readings, workshops, and memberships and programs. By blending intuition with actionable strategies, I help clients bridge the gap between insight and transformation.

Tarot, when combined with coaching, becomes a versatile tool for fostering growth, clarity, and empowerment. By reframing tarot beyond prediction, drawing coaching questions from the cards, and creating interactive experiences, you can guide your clients toward meaningful change. Integrating life coaching and tarot has shown me the profound impact this approach can have, helping individuals connect with their inner wisdom and take actionable steps toward their goals.
